It’s not often that I step outside my front door and wonder why I chose this place that I live. It is incredibly green and colorful in this beautiful town called Newberg. My home is located in the wine valley of Oregon, just outside of Portland.  This small valley is surrounded by beautiful hills covered with deciduous and evergreen trees and of course thousands of acres of grapes which are mostly for Pinot Noir. I absolutely love it here. There is also a rich history, given that one of the oldest Oregon settlements, Butteville, formed near here at the water’s edge of the Willamette River. President Herbert Hoover lived here between 1885 – 1889 under the care of his uncle after his parents died.  His uncle’s home still stands today as a historic tribute to our President.

Being in an area that refreshes me each day is one way that I prepare to serve you as a life coach. As is true of all of us, I must be centered and grounded in order to be of the best use to others. A table with a weak leg cannot withstand much weight. Bring your greatest worries and concerns to me and I can help you turn them into blessings by being of right mind. There are very few who truly get that the best way that we can take care of others is by taking care of ourselves first. This is especially true for parents. I have a young daughter and if I haven’t centered myself, I’m quick to snap at her, reacting hastily to something she said or did. So the act of grounding or centering myself occurs daily and throughout the day as necessary. It’s one of the many practices I teach my clients.

Most of my work is done by phone or on the computer. I’m also holding webinars and workshops. This allows me to serve more people from virtually anywhere. I could be on a coaching call with you while in Naples, Italy or Santiago, Chili. What freedom modern technology has given us! With that said, many people ask, “Should I choose a coach that lives near me?” The answer to that depends on what matters most to you. I completely understand those who love to meet face-to-face. Sometimes, there’s nothing better. I’m actually one of those people. Trust is often developed quickest when you can look the other person in the eyes and see they sincerely care. I believe we are wired to connect that way. It’s how people form bonds. If you live in the Portland area, don’t be surprised if our first meeting or two is face-to-face at a local coffee shop or restaurant. With that said, I love to work with people no matter where they live and it’s easy to do with technologies such as FaceTime or Skype. These days, there is rarely a reason we can’t connect in a way that feels comfortable to you.

Choosing a life coach, regardless where they live, is about finding someone you trust. Most people wonder, “what does a life coach do?” People often seek coaches when they are feeling stuck in one or more areas of their life. For example, they may be experiencing some serious health issues and the symptoms are increasing to the point where they know something different has to be done. They’ve tried dieting and exercising but nothing is sticking. Nothing is working. Another example is someone who is trapped in a job they don’t like. They desperately want to leave but they have to pay the bills, they may even have some debt, and they aren’t sure how to switch jobs or even which job to switch to. This usually means they have been trying to do something on their own for quite some time, maybe even years, and it has not been working. After awhile, they begin to realize they need someone who can see the problem(s) they are facing from a different perspective. An effective coach has been trained to see from a point of possibility. Anything is possible. What you truly desire can be obtained. I teach my clients how to see that for themselves. I teach them how to solve their own situations. I guide my clients to discover their own answers and empower them to take the necessary steps to fix their situations no matter how difficult that may seem. I don’t tell my clients the solutions to their problems because it’s not for me to decide what’s best for them. Only they can know what’s best by learning to listen to their intuition, which by the way, everyone can do but few no how to. I teach them that too.

My goal is to give my clients the most amazing and powerful tools to discover their own solutions and fix any of their own problems. They can use them time and time again to solve any problem. Since I’m passionate about empowering people to transform their lives, I don’t just teach them, I help them apply these tools in their own lives. It’s not enough to know about these tools. Knowing about something is not the same as knowing something to the extent that you can apply it masterfully in your own life. This means that I stay with them through the journey of learning to apply these skills, repeating them over and over until clients are more rapidly recognizing when to use the tools and are proficiently applying them to create the results they desire in their lives.  All the while, they are discovering the truth of who they are. Everyone I meet has far more strength, endurance, intelligence and tenacity than they realize. I can see that in them when clearly they cannot. I help them to tap into their own resources and to see that they are and have always been incredible, capable, wonderful people.
